Modification of Orders

Modification is necessary when prior orders no longer work for families.

Families and children change, and what may have once worked for a family, no longer does. In cases where a prior order no longer works for a family, the State of Texas provides a process for returning to court to modify prior court orders.

Without an agreement of the parties, modification is rarely an easy process. Except in certain specific circumstances, a parent wishing to modify a prior court order must show that there has been a material and substantial change in circumstances, such that the prior order is not longer in their child’s best interest.

If you feel you may need to return to court to modify a prior court order, feel free to call our office and schedule a consultation with one of our attorneys specializing in this area.
